Collecting tumour tissue samples to learn more about breast cancer in women of African ancestry. These are just some of the 19 projects that recently received funding in the second round of the International Initiatives Micro Fund (IIMF), which is administered through the Office of International Affairs and provides seed funding to kick-start international partnerships and joint international research activities.

    McMaster signs MOUs with some of China’s leading universities

    McMaster University has entered into memoranda of understanding with some of China’s leading universities while at a research and development summit held earlier this month in Nanjing, China.

    The summit, which was co-chaired by Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Jiangsu Province party secretary Luo Zhijun, included representatives from the Jiangsu Province Department of Education, the presidents of several leading universities in China and a delegation from the Council of Ontario Universities (COU).

    McMaster has maintained its position among the top 100 universities in the world according to the latest Times Higher Education rankings released Wednesday.

    The rankings once again place McMaster 94th in the world, making it one of only four Canadian universities in the top 100.

    McMaster University has once again been named among the top 100 universities in the world by a prestigious international ranking system. The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), published each August by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, has ranked McMaster 96th in the world.

    The 2014 Meeting of the Space for Women Leaders from Higher Education Institutions from the Americas (EMULIES) took place on November 19 in the Canadian capital, thanks to the hospitality of the University of Ottawa. The encounter gathered 25 participants from 6 countries (Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico). Among the attendees, there were Presidents and Vice-Presidents from Latin American and Canadian universities, who represented their respective institutions during this high level rendezvous, including Dr. Allison Sekuler, Associate Vice-President and Dean of Graduate Studies.
